Tea Party

Do the Tea Baggers in the Tea Party realize they are being used as the apparent idiots they are?   Clearly, they don’t realize the stupidity of their beliefs.  Although it is  difficult to define what Tea Baggers believe, here are issues largely not in dispute:

  1. Lower Taxes, eliminate the IRS
  2. Small Government, Eliminate many agencies, e.g. EPA, FAA, FDA, Dept of Education, Dept of Energy, etc.
  3. Balance the Federal Budget
  4. Adherence to a Constitution envisaged by the Founding Fathers, as they see it
  5. Libertarian vis a vis Ron and Rand Paul
  6. Freedom and Liberty — Opposed to Sociaism
  7. Corporatists
  8. Pro Gun
  9. Pro Life
  10. Nationalization
  11. Opposed to Government Regulations
  12. Opposed to Health Care Reform
  13. Favor subverting civil rights in order to solve terrorism and illegal immigration
  14. Not associated with a major political party but most closely aligned with Republicans

Tea Party even has a theme song

This basic belief set is simply idiotic for anybody who is not rich.   As corporations are given more power and the government is reduced, people have less influence on the government.  Tea Baggers believe this will lead to a better society. That is, each person is responsible for themselves and there is no safety net.   They readily embrace Libertarians like Rand Paul and his recent declaration that the Title 2 of the Civil Rights’ Act violates the Constitution’s Commerce Clause; further, Paul believes that private entities should be allowed to discriminate against others for any reason, including current protected classes like race, disability, and sexual orientation.

To a Tea Bagger, corporations can do no harm.  The Gulf Disaster occured because of the government’s lack of response, not because BP could not handle their own failure.  In fact, Tea Baggers have a trusted belief that the free enterprise system will cause corporations to police themselves and do the right thing.  Likewise, Tea Baggers would eliminate the Department of Education, FDA, FAA, EPA, IRS, and many other agencies. Even Tea Baggers who are on social security and medicare, don’t see any relationship between government spending and government programs.  Tea Baggers fail to see the destructive influence of corporations throughout American history.

Tea Baggers believe that every person is capability of supporting themselves and there is no empathy for people who cannot.  Tea Baggers subscribe to the beilef, “I’ve got mind, everybody else is on their own.”
