President Obama is a total disaster and is going to have a long life reflecting on missed opportunities, lack of conviction, and utter screws up. Not only has he failed as President, but he has crippled liberals and progressives in a way that conservatives were never able to do. Progressives hate politics and believe there is no hope for the future — not even George W was able to do that.
The latest nonsense — and it is just the latest in a long string of screw ups — is the so-called financial reform bill. Like most bills in today’s America it is long on text but short on reform. Little has actually changed to rein in mega banks and the crooked ways of Wall Street. There is little to restrict derivative trading, little to prevent future bailouts, and now Treasury Secretary Geithner has been given sweeping powers to formulate regulations. Giving Geithner such power is an affront to rationality and responsible government. Geithner is a crook.
Geithner has been a regular review on America Doomed. This guy was involved in the AIG bailout, covered up what actually happened, and involved with one financial sham after another. He has help companies like Goldman Sachs rape the Treasury of $BILLIONS. He has made dozens of secret deals as he works to protect mega banks and against ordinary citizens. He should have been fired a dozen times since Obama took office, but is still there stronger than ever. Whenever Geithner speaks, he lies, covers up, and is always helping big financial interests.
Geithner is also opposing appointing Elizabeth Warren to the new Consumer Protection Agency. Warren has been the single lone voice in the Obama administration trying to defend ordinary Americans. It is little surprise that Geithner would want to block her appointment. But, of course, he denies this — lying again. Simon Johnston refers to this as Obama’s last straw, but the last straw happened long ago with Obama. He is a lame duck and has managed to so upset his base that he will have huge loses in 2010 and will be defeated. There will be another idiot GOP candidate, but it hardly matters considering the idiot that is Obama.
Is Obama so taken with being President that he can’t begin to understand how he has utterly and completely failed? He is so over his head with proclamations the economy is recovery and that he should be held responsible for jobs. Fine. Let Obama have what he says and resign because there are few jobs and unemployment will continue to increase. In his very own words, Obama has declared he has failed — so resign already. Seriously, who could be worse than Obama?
America is Doomed.
People who love capitalism, love dictatorships — they are the same thing. There is nothing democratic about capitalism or large corporations. There are no votes among the vast majority of employees unless they organize in collective bargaining units — unions. And Corporations fiercely fight any type of employee organizations — they prefer the simplistic model of a dictatorship, frequently called a CEO. Corporations are driven from the top, exactly like communist forms of government. The CEO is the modern day dictator who orders compliance and punishes even minor decent. The destruction that a CEO can rein is as decisive and permanent as any communist zealot — they can force employees to relocate, work for lower wages, take away their houses, decide the fate of children, and destroy families. Simply, CEO control their employees by force.
Lovers of democracy should also love socialism and abhor capitalism. Socialism is about putting the workers above the gentry. It is establishing a form of rule that privileges the opinion of all the workers and abides by the majority. It is perfectly fine to let workers rule companies with democratic methods, including voting on policy and wages. Majorities have a much better chance of good management than small dictatorships. Many companies which practice socialism utilize democracy extensively in making major decisions.
People who believe in capitalism are frequently fascists. They believe in letting a small, elect group dictate decisions with little oversight. “My way or the highway.” This is the hypocrisy of decrying liberty while practicing capitalism. There is no liberty in capitalism. It is comply or disappear. In today’s America, corporations coordinate to administer punishment to dissenting people, collectively. This is done with such devices as resumes, recommendations, credit reports, background checks, and extensive databases. This approach would make any communist dictator proud and delighted.
Thus, once one observes the obvious connection between capitalism and dictatorships and lack of democratic values, it is no surprise when capitalism disregards people over money and power. Capitalism uses money and power to control government, undermine elections, ignore the environment, ignore the greater good, and subvert regulations designed to protect people. Capitalism is not just the opposite of socialism — capitalism wants to crush any obstacles to people over profits.
When Americans hear about the wonders of capitalism, they should realize they are listening to a person who wants to be a dictator. They want to order people to do as they wish. They want to deny people any voice in the way they are governed or compensated. These people just want slaves and it matters little if the slaves are controlled by force or money. Either way, ordinary people end up as slaves to the capitalist. Ultimately, capitalism destroys people and countries.
It is simply remarkable that people defend capitalism when they claim to be lovers of liberty and democracy. Make no mistake people like Beck, Palin, Cheney, Bush, Limbaugh, and Hannity want to be dictators. They would never be for a system that gives people any say at all. They just pretend to be for democracy as they pursue their agenda as dictators. Like any dictator, they are willing to lie, cheat, deceive, and even kill — anything to gain control over the lives of others. People who follow such clowns are being subjected to the ultimate scam and most will eventually realize it — but, it will be too late for them. So, it is easy to recognize a dictator or an idiot — just find somebody who believes and defends capitalism.

America is on the path for another million homes to be lost to foreclosure this year. This is up from the 900,000 foreclosures in 2009 and this trend will continue in 2011. As jobs are lost and wages are slashed, there is little chance that people will be able to maintain their homes. As home prices continue to decline because of decreased employment and wages, there is little support for the housing market. Likewise, people who build new homes, repair them, and fill them up with consumer items will also suffer. This, in turn, will lead to more home loses. This is today’s America.
Yet, the GOP who brought America to destruction with their polices for the rich, still believe they have the solutions. Since 1980 60% of all income has gone to the upper 1% of America — with the other 99% scraping to divide the rest. Thus, it is not a trend that has lasted just a few years. This has been the systematic destruction of citizens since Ronald Reagan. History will show Reagan as the biggest evil with his experiment with trickle down economics — what Bush the Senior rightly called “voodoo economics”. But this voodoo has been the belief system of Republicans since Reagan and continues to be. Unfortunately, this voodoo is believed by millions of people who vote for Republicans — people who will lose jobs and houses as Republicans regain power.
Not only will the trend continue, but the effects of the trend will even accelerate. This is because jobs are being eliminated at a faster pace. There are fewer offerings for Americans, even Americans willing to work for lower wages. Companies are hiring from cheap labor markets throughout the world. Professional people with advanced degrees, substantial experience, and willing to work at any job, cannot find employment. They simple ask the question, “What am I to do?” The Republicans believe they should just quit being lazy and go to work. Yet, Republicans make it impossible for them to find employment.
Now, cue Jeb Bush — the brother of two Bush Presidents who for 12 years have wrecked havoc on America — the third leg of American insanity. Make no mistake, people who liked the first two Bushes are going to love Jeb. Along with the family buddy, Karl Rove, there are plans for Jeb to mount a Presidential bid for 2012. Jeb is looking more viable because he is married to a Latina and speaks fluent Spanish — a critically important demographic for the GOP. Thus, Jeb will come to rescue the GOP, as it wages war on undocumented Latinos. George W also carried many Latinos voters and also spoke Spanish. So, Jeb is trying to repeat history. No doubt he will repeat much more history of George W than just speaking Spanish.
As so-called new conservatives, neocons, Jeb and Rove will likely mount another run for President with all the tatterings of more war, less taxes, and more poverty in America. President Obama is clearly vulnerable in 2012 because Republicans hate him and Democrats are disgusted by his Republican lite policies and lack of a spine. Obama has been a great disappointment and may very well be the reason that Jeb and Rove have another chance to command the country. It hardly matters at this point with sky high deficits that Jeb will likely add to them with trillions of dollars in tax cuts, including eliminating estate taxes. Anything so that the rich will keep the Republicans in office.
Republicans also plan to eliminate Social Security and Medicare as John Boehner declared a few weeks ago. It will all be justified to help the country and the economy. But, just wait until the plug is pulled on critical income to a significant part of the country. The Seniors will support the Republicans and then act all surprised when they pull the plug on their entitlements. Meanwhile, there is an excellent chance the US Supreme Court will strike down these entitlements as a violation of the Commerce Clause and Jeb will be there to replace the gang of five with five more crazy idiots.
But personally, I am less worried now about Republicans than a decade ago. Back then, there was still some hope. But Obama has blown any chance of changing the country. This country has no chance of surviving at this point. So, there might as well be a Republican as President when the currency collapses, the national debt is defaulted, unemployment goes crazy, people starve, and civil unrest erupts. Republicans will be the people to impose Marshall laws, curfews, and food rationing for the poor. All the time they will blame the liberal agenda for everything that happens. Because it was the liberal agenda that caused all the deficits as they opposed tax cuts for the wealthy — taxes — one way to avoid deficits when the government doesn’t want to cut American imperialism and giveaways to mega corporations.

After nearly 3 months, BP has stopped the oil volcano in the Gulf, at least to the extent that underwater cameras are showing. It is wonderful that the gusher has stopped but there are still many questions. Why this could not be accomplished a few days after the sinking of the rig is a question that needs to be answered as well. Yet, the biggest question is will the oil stay stopped or has the sea floor been damaged to such an extent that oil is still leaking elsewhere? Will this particular well fail and start gushing again?
The Gulf has been permanently damaged and the cover up of the disaster will continue, not only by BP but by government agencies as well. There is already a massive restrictions on data that prevents scientists to fully document the extent of the damage. The effects of the dispersant is far reaching as well. Most animals found floating dead in the Gulf have no visible signs of oil and, of course, BP will claim it has nothing to do with the pollution in the Gulf. This is equivalent to the smoking industry arguing for decades that smoking had nothing to do with serious illness. All that is known right now is the scientists don’t know how or why these animals died.
Look for a bigger push to continue drilling in the Gulf, because in today’s America errors are regularly repeated. There will be other oil disasters and the disaster of continuing to burn fossil fuels will result in more climate change and related disasters.
America is Doomed.
People who think that jobs are coming back without drastic, unprecedented actions are wrong. This is obviously not to say that every person will be unemployed in America. Rather, it means that there will be massive unemployment, increasing over time, until Congress implements radical legislation or America collapses. The legislation will have to prevent companies from outsourcing work, impose significant tariffs on imports, limit the amount of time people are allowed to work, eliminate international trade agreements, and commitment to providing a guaranteed living wage and/or job for every citizen.
However, the bad news is America is going in the opposite direction of what needs to be done. There are many reasons for this.
- Americans still believe that this is an ordinary recession and things will improve — it is a Depression that has not been publicly recognized by the people in power.
- There is still faith in capitalism as an economic system. Yet, tools which have worked in the past, like low interest rates, are no longer working. Low interest rates are helping mega banks that can borrow for 0% but are devastating to ordinary Americans who are penalized for any savings.
- President Obama has declared many times that things are improving, when they are not, which makes him economically impotent and unable to lead. He will certainly lose re-election and be replaced with another GOP clown — probably Jeb Bush.
- Workers need aggressive collective bargaining but almost no progress is being made.
- America has a crushing and accelerating national debt.
- Corporations control the government and elections making reform impossible.
- There are still too many people who are doing ok and are not worried about the people who are not; eventually, everybody will be worried about the people who are suffering.
There is still lots of pain and lesson learning for America before there will be job growth. It could easily last another decade of pursuing policies that have failed America in the past, until they are finally abandoned. There will be more tax cuts which will not result in more employment, because the tax cuts for the last 30 years haven’t. With increasing tax cuts there will be increasing national debt and eventually this debt will climb so fast that the financial core will meltdown. The currency will collapse and the entire financial fabric will fail, almost overnight. This could happen at any time and be brought on by many different catalysts, like nuclear war, terrorism, foreign contagion, or a military coup.
Jobs are at the core of this all because in America one cannot sustain themselves without money which normally means a job. The lack of jobs will destroy consumers, capitalism, and the entire financial fabric of America. There will be one new low after another as more and more people are destroyed with no hope. There will be elections with different ideas but they will all fail because nobody will be able to build any consensus. It doesn’t matter who is elected — Republican or Democrat or anybody else. They will all fail because America is a greedy, selfish place that fails to realize that everybody will succeed or fail together.
The only solution to this mess is a completely new financial system and country. This includes default on the entire national debt, new currency, reformulation of corporations, and commitment to ordinary citizens. This would confiscate all the wealth in the country and redistribute it as living wages to ordinary citizens. However, the existing legal system will prevent these reforms because the Constitution was written and interpreted to protect the gentry. Even basic citizen protections were added as amendments. Thus, there can be no real solution because the constraints of America, in law and culture, will prevent it.
The entire US Constitution will have to be replaced with a new one but this cannot be done within the framework of the existing one. Thus, the country will have to disintegrate into regions or states as they withdraw from the federal government. This will take decades and create a series of fundamentally different countries. Perhaps there will be civil war as one faction tries to hold the union together. Perhaps, each region will just act out their own emergency measures as they establish independent countries.
America is too complicated and too incapable to solve simple problems; they have no chance at solving complicated ones that require an entirely new political and economic approach. It is the doomsday scenario that will be accompanied with violence, suffering, destruction, and massive death.
