Agenda
Here is a list of the biggest problems and a more rational agenda for America, in no particular order
- Special-interests, lobbyists, and for-profit corporations control government — should be made illegal
- Require all citizens to vote in elections and guarantee elections are fair
- All elections should be publicly funded; no contributions allows; election campaigns should be no more than 3 months
- Cap on all income levels. No person should be allowed to make more than 10 times the minimum living wage — 100% taxation above that level. No taxes on income less than twice living wage. Living wage is guaranteed to all citizens.
- For-profit corporations privilege only money — nothing else — not people, nor the environment.
- All for-profit corporations should be taxed at 50% of profits and encouraged to hire more people
- All basic industries should be non-profit corporations, e.g. energy, health care, food production, education, utilities
- For-profit corporations granted person-hood by Supreme Court, allows them to lie, cheat, and donate unlimited amount of funds into political process
- Financial reform needed, including ban on all derivatives, separation of traditional banking from hedge funds
- Health reform needed, including single payer system and/or public option; need to eliminate for-profit corporations from all aspects of health care
- Guaranteed living wage for all citizens, including job, education, health care, housing, food, and transportation.
- New energy policy to eliminate the use of all fossil fuels, i.e. coal, oil, natural gas; replaced with clean, sustainable energy
- Reform education at all levels. Basic education should emphasize basic skills through high school graduation: reading, writing, critical thinking, math, and computers. Subjects like literature, history, and science should be oriented around the basic skill set.
- High school graduates should demonstrate academic achievement which results in free college education. Same should apply to graduate school.
- National internet infrastructure available and free for all Americans; delivered through electrical grid and/or wireless
- Food production should emphasize healthy food; junk food should be heavily taxed and unavailable in all public buildings
- Let anybody get married to anybody else. No benefits of citizenship or law should be related to whether a person is married or not.
- Sexual orientation is nobody’s business.
- Allow religious freedom but avoid it polluting the public domain, e.g. no day or prayer, no religious artifacts in public, all religious institutions should be taxed.
