Republicans love the lie. They make lies into talking points and put out the bullshit nonstop. Sadly, Americans buy this bullshit — totally.
The great lie since the 1980s and Reagan is that cutting taxes creates jobs and prosperity. We now have 30 years that illustrate how much crap this is. Over this period of time the upper 1% have had nearly all of the income and net worth growth — everybody else has stayed flat or gone down.
The ONLY thing that creates jobs is demand and the ONLY way to create demand is if everybody has disposable income. Destroy the middle class, make the poor, poorer, eliminate social programs and there is less money for society. This translates into less demand. This translates into deficits and unemployment. This is what the situation is today and this situation will be made worse, much worse, as they ‘cut’ their way to a balanced budget.
One way to guarantee a Super Depression — already in a Depression — for the next 100 years and the demise of the country in the process is to allow rich people and powerful corporations to continue to not pay taxes, cut social programs, and balance the budget. This will completely destroy the middle class, hurt the poor, and usher in a new destitute part of society. There will be no way out of this either. The only thing that will happen is a class war were the have-nots rise up in revolution against everybody above them.
Sadly, the Republican lie is the widely held belief of most Americans, exactly like it was under Herbert Hoover who ushered in the Depression and made it worse by cutting, cutting. It wasn’t until FDR and the New Deal when spending and employment for all started the process to get America out of the Depression. It would not really end until World War II — it lasted nearly 20 years.
But, yes, the world is different and the US has more debt but the Hoover scenario continues to unfold. In fact, we probably haven’t elected our Herbert Hoover yet but likely will in 2012. By 2016, we will elect our new FDR but it will take another decade or two to get America rolling again. There will likely be a currency failure during the process. The Tea Party is helping to move this process along quicker but they will fail because we haven’t elected our new Hoover yet. The baggers do not have any solution to the problem because the solution is a new economic system where everybody gets a minimum – it’s called democratic socialism. No, it isn’t totalitarian socialism as commenters frequently assume.
No matter what happens with the debt — and there will be no default — this process will continue. America will elect their new Hoover and eventually their new FDR. But, it won’t do any good for anybody over 50.
America is Doomed
The biggest problem with America is bullshit artist and ignorant people like you. History is FACT. The Reagan administrated proved to the American people that cutting taxes fuels economy. Look at Asia as an example. But you will do what you always do and point the blame somewhere else rather than take credit for the piss poor leadership that is in office, and that goes for both political parties.

Reagan started this debt spiral and increased the debt, as a percentage, more than anybody since. He was the master of borrowed economic growth and America is paying the price.
