With the news that that Democrats in the Senate will play a leading role in keeping the Bush tax cuts, it seems an appropriate time to soap box on how little difference there is between Democrats and Republicans, particularly when the issue is the rich getting richer and ordinary people getting screwed.
Everybody knows that Republicans are for the rich but, sadly, Democrats are as well. This is fundamentally the problem
with America. No matter what else happens, the rich keep getting richer and continue to manipulate and control government. The middle class becomes poor and the number of poor keeps increasing. Senators fall over themselves giving more money to the rich in hope they will get money in return to continue their lifestyle and careers in the Senate. A career that includes perks, travel, and living like kings. Of course, most Senators and national politicians are rich already but few want to spend their money getting re-elected or in jetting around the world. So, their typical strategy is to continue pro-rich policies with their hands out for contributions — it is the classic have your cake and piss on everybody else.
Of course, there are rich people like Meg Whitman in California spending $100 million, plus, of her own money to become the next governor. Truth is — she would spend many times that amount if it would guarantee her a victory. Her opponent, Jerry Brown, is spending 200 times less. Not only is Whitman spending an unfathomable amount of money for 99.99% of the population, but she is lying her ass off in the process. Before the primary, she was for the ‘Papers Please’ law in Arizona. Now she is not only opposed to it, but she is running Spanish ads for Latinos suggesting amnesty programs. However, when she goes on right wing talk radio, she is all about how something just has to be done for immigration and the Arizona law makes lots of sense. Thus, nobody has any idea what Whitman actually believes about immigration — she probably doesn’t even know — her priority is to make the rich richer and screw everybody else.
Likewise, when Democratic Senators pine on about the travesty of the rich getting richer and the unemployment rate increasing, does anybody have any idea what these bozos actually believe. This is possibly the saddest part about elections in America. It mostly doesn’t matter who wins because the policies are not going to change very much. President Obama will be the perfect example of this for the next decade.
America was duped by Obama, but he is hardly the first one. Perhaps to be President one has to be a liar, like Whitman and Obama. Perhaps, they have to have no conscience or moral fabric. Perhaps, they have to be willing to lie on cue, depending on the audience. And, they have to do all of this as they declare deep religious faith in god or whatever. In any case, America loses — over and over again. But this time, America is going down — and hard.
America is Doomed.

There’s a deceptively false trust afforded us in the fact there are no laws that state we have to pay income taxes. However, the failure to file our taxes “voluntarily” when income is made gives the government the right to harass us to no end and empowers the IRS can turn our lives into Kafka-esque nightmares.
There’s also a speciously disguised false trust to banks and printed money. When we make deposits to a bank and make withdraws at an ATM, there really is no law that says banks have to return our money to us. Quite the contrary. They’ll take our money, put it into a pool and loan it out for a nice profit to themselves. And if they feel like it, we may receive an insulting and yet small gratuity for our generosity. In some cases banks do such a crappy job of lending and investing, they go out of business and the government has to pay us back but only up to a certain “quaint” amount.
Should we claim what is rightfully ours from a bank for trusting them with a deposit, more often than not, we will receive printed money. Printed money really has no intrinsic value. The only reason why we can trade printed money in for food, gas or something that has real-life value is because the person selling what we need will take “pieces of paper” that have lofty words and pretty pictures.
My point is that in all transactions (social, monetary, goods, services) the exchange has to be RECIPROCATED. If it was only the fairness of what is being reciprocated that’s the issue, I might be inclined to advocate the mitigation of the problem. But when NOTHING is reciprocated and, on the contrary, more is demanded, we are no longer living on our feet with unalienable rights. Instead, we are begging on our knees like slaves.
Currently there are two societies in America under the guise of e pluribus unum. One is for the privileged, and one is for the rest. What do we get in return for taxation without representation? What gets reciprocated to us for the luxurious lifestyles we help fund for our elected officials? What respect and dignity is shown us by companies to whom we give hours of labor and years of service? Nothing but insurmountable mountains of debt that insures a life of servile servitude and tokens of false trust. It truly is a tale of two cities worse than anything Dickens could have imagined.
Postscript: My thanks to rickc for the kind words in a previous posting. I claim no greater a perceptive mind than those who participate in this forum. It is through their insights, those of the admin and countless others who unselfishly share their thoughts with an open mind by which we are able to find our voices. We are all, in some small way, a reflection of each other.
Thank you too Neo for the kind words, and all other blog users for the kindness.
I read a good article on Iraq as such with the 50,000 military personal still over there as “peace keepers”.Saying that when these military numbers come down Iran will most certainly take over the country of Iraq and rule as a whole.Kinda makes sense as Admin and this blog have simular ideas that Iran just released their design of a missle that will travel 650 miles surely to slam into Isreal if their missle could make it that far.
Now if Iran takes over Iraq, Iran will be that much closer to fuck over Isreal.
The Republicans are so funny, when the economy is good you say let’s all celebrate “Cinco de Mayo, my brothers” but when the economy is down “it’s all your fault, you damn immigrant”. When most Americans (with Latin America roots) go to the polls this November we will remember that the GOP has gone on a nationwide rant in proposing and passing several anti-immigration legislation (that our US Courts continue to strike down) and have continue to blame the immigrant for the flat economy or worse. We will remember who stands with us and who stands against us, so trying to stop it now is somewhat funny, but go ahead, you will not change our minds. Plus the more radical of the GOP are now attacking our Constitution and our Bill of Rights, in a misguided attempt to garner some much needed votes, they really are fools, and leading the GOP towards obscurity because they are no longer a party of ideas, just of empty suits. Your hate made you do it, in November; you will reap what you have sown. I wonder what Abraham Lincoln would say about todays GOP, he unlike the current GOP was a man of ideas.
