The world is running out of oil and the peak in oil production, if not already here, is just around the corner — so says the Kuwait Oil Company.  This is not some rogue cell of the Sierra Club — these are people who profit from converting the earth’s stored CO2 into money.

Since whoever decided that converting fossil fuel in the ground would be a good way to run the planet, the demand has grown year after year.  Meanwhile, there have been hole after hole drilled in the planet to remove the stuff.  Taking essentially sunlight that was stored under the earth crust and releasing it — along with  its CO2.  This has been an excellent strategy if the goal was to release as much CO2 into the atmosphere as possible and screw up the planet.  Literally, man has released stored CO2 from millenniums.  This is one of the significant reasons there is so much CO2 in the atmosphere, along with the number of people on the planet.

It is interesting to realize that this insanity of digging holes and extracting fossil fuels is a relatively recent event in the history of earth, even if you are a crazy “the earth if 6,000 years old” person — hardly more than 100 years.  Just goes to show that it doesn’t take long to destroy something that took billions of years to create.  Even environmentalism is a relatively recent and came about when some realized that man’s actions have consequences.  These consequences are getting more dire every day in direct pollution of water and air which results in pollution of just about every other thing that people produce using the essence of the earth, e.g. food.

I doubt if many people could have predicted just how addicted man would get to fossil fuels — millions and even billions of automobiles, trucks, and trains running on the ‘crude’.  This addiction is not uniformed — America uses 25% of the world’s fossil fuel and apparently resents China and India growing their use of the crude.  But like any addiction, this commodity has peaked and withdrawals are doing to require pain and suffering. And — this addiction will have lots of solutions that don’t involve using sustainable energy sources.  Instead, energy developers will use dirty coal (no such thing as clean coal), convert shale into oil, etc.  — just about anything to keep extracting that stored CO2 and release it into the atmosphere.    And — there is no way to put the CO2 genie back into its box — at least least not without 6 billion people going the way of the dinosaurs.

Greed has consequences so does the addiction to fossil fuels.   It is already too late to correct the problem of releasing all the CO2 into the atmosphere.  And as the ice on the earth melts, the oceans rise, and temperature of the earth increases, the younger generation will realize the consequences of the self-destruction of fossil fuel.    Many of the old farts in Congress, Exxon and every other big polluter will be dead — but the damage to the planet is accomplished.  So don’t rest in peace you assholes that were more concerned about their money than the planet.

America (and Earth) is Doomed.

I’m gjald that it peaked. Really only 2 things will happen now: more war for the reamining oil, or a true shift to renewable clean energy. Which path on the Yellow Brick Road will AmeriKa persue? I’m a betting man and I say war and destruction. Way more money to be made that way. Guns and munitions, body bags, caskets, tents, tanks, airplanes, etc….. Talk about a jobs “stimalus” plan!!!

Indeed. War is what got us out of the last Depression. I figure sooner or later something will happen with Iran but that just might not be a good war to take on.

  3. Geez, everytime I see blogs this good I just want mine to be there already! :) Great work.
