Democrat Senator Blanche Lincoln claims to be a democrat, but she is a greedy, corporate hack — she accepted $2 million from health insurance companies and was opposed to the public option. She even voted against the Health Care Reform bill. She talks like a Republican and acts like a Republican — she is a Republican. If she wants to run for office, let her do it as a Republican. She is in the pocket of big business and hates ordinary people in Arkansas — and the rest of the country. She needs to go.
Personally, I don’t know how somebody like Lincoln can even live with herself.

It is shocking just how Republican Obama is — Obama is racking up a long list that would make Republicans proud. Today, he announces expanded drilling for oil off the East Coast, Gulf Coast, and even parts of Alaska. It reminds me again of Bill Maher who said, “Democrats have moved to the right and the Right has moved into the Mental Hospital.”
President Obama has decided he will be a President for big business — pretty much like Georgie W. Health Care Reform maintains a for-profit system, and this will benefit big Pharma, Hospitals, and Health Insurance companies. Now, Obama is paying off the likes of big Energy and the boys at Exxon — nearly impossible to distinguish him from Georgie. It doesn’t matter to Obama that he was opposed to expanded drilling during the Presidential campaign. That was the campaign, and this is the reality.
Obama is making sure to hand out something for everybody, with one exception. Obama doesn’t much care about liberal and progressives. He reasons that progressives have no place to go but he would be wrong about this. For Health Care, progressives are not happy and the only silver lining was it was necessary to keep the Democrats and Obama in the game. But, if in the game means more new holes in the ground for the clearly ridiculous idea that America can drill its way out of its oil addiction, then Obama and Democrats are going to be surprised at just how little enthusiasm progressives have for Obama and the Democrats in the future.
Thinking about Obama’s overall record, he is a Republican — not a Republican like today’s Republicans, more like the kind of Republicans that has destroyed America since the 1980s. Right down the line, Obama frequently is doing what Reagan would have done — for-profit health care system, for-profit energy, for-profit wars, etc.
No wonder that Obama has secret meetings with big business and makes deals that are not made public. Obama is a corporatist but he will get no credit from Republicans — 24% of them think he is the anti-Christ and over half think he is a Muslim. He doesn’t get any support in Congress from Republicans who claim he is a socialist. Yet, Obama continues to spit in the face of the liberals and progressives in the Democratic Party — these are the people who are the activists and the workers for future campaigns. Now, with the oil drilling announcement, he is sending out a message that he doesn’t want their help in the future. Obama will be getting what he wants.

Lots of recent stories how the Pope knew about the child molestation in Wisconsin — knew directly about the matter — and did nothing, except protect the perpetrator. Likewise, the Catholic Church hierarchy in Wisconsin apparently was more concerned about the Church than the children. Has anybody been fired or put in jail as a result of decades of corruption, molestation, and criminal behavior? No.
Wall Street made gigantic risks with $BILLIONS, if not $TRILLIONS and what has happened to the people involved. They still have their jobs and are getting gigantic bonuses. Nobody got fired or fined and the same cast of characters are still doing the same behavior. There is no financial reform and even the bills being debated will do little to prevent another crisis which is surely coming. Just today, it was reported than half of all commercial loans are underwater — owe more than the property is worth.
Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Chairman, was complicit in the largest financial disaster in US history and he gets another term. Likewise, Geithner is so in bed with Wall Street but still has his job at Treasury — there were no consequences for his behavior relative to AIG and Goldman Sachs. Michael Steele approved Republican National Committee expenditures for a Bondage Strip club and nothing happens to him. This is just the latest in a long list of missteps — but nothing happens to him. etc. etc.
Daily, there is another story about how a powerful person messes up real bad — to the point of criminal conduct — but nothing happens. When was it ok to not be penalized for screwing up in America? There are no standards for the powerful in America.

It is easy to oppose anything — if you are a Republican — if you have nothing to say, then just make something up. Release it to Fox News and it will be played non-stop. It will be repeated on right wing talk radio. Limbaugh will blame it on Obama or the “man-child”. Beck will cry for his country. Hannity will just use it to raise more money for his personal fund raising. Liberal stations will be outraged how it is a lie but Palin with just decry, “More bullshit from Lame Street Media”. This is just hopeless — and never ending.
After fighting health care reform for over a year — even crummy reform — there is evidence that Republicans will be declaring it was their idea all along. Senator Chuck Grassley from Iowa claims he has always been for it and it contains some of his best ideas. The fact that he voted against it makes no difference to good old Chucky. The fact that he was constantly outspoken against health care makes no difference. Sadly, this will likely even work which is particularly perplexing — essentially making it risk free to consistently oppose something, only to claim credit for it in the end or victory if it fails. There is even evidence this idea to claim credit for Health Care is spreading. Don’t these liars have anybody in their family that follows the news and reads, even a little? What do they say when the grandchild comes to them and asks why they are such liars. I guess they get their bible out to defend their right to fight against “baby killers”.
On another front, the Census people claim that the call to boycott the census by right wingers is working. There is much lower Census turnout in Texas overall, and in Houston in particular — significantly less than other states. This might be because the people of Texas are just too stupid to read the 10 questions or maybe they believe Rep Bachmann who claims that Census is just a way for the government to figure out who needs to go to the death camps. So, the government will have to hire lots of people to go track down the conservative nut jobs so they can be counted. These are the people who think the US Constitution was an annex to the bible. It doesn’t matter that this happens to be in the Constitution and it is required every 10 years. No matter — they now know about the death camps.
It is difficult to write about America, the gross stupidity of the population, and the distortion of facts. Yet, there is never a lack of material to document just how much trouble is already here in America. There is no hope for this country. Elected representatives have no problem with distortion and lies. The religious right wingers are the worst. It is hard to understand if they believe the bible or just are too stupid to know what it says. One of the ten commandments is opposed to lying but this doesn’t seem to matter much. It doesn’t even persuade religious people to vote against the liars.
Meanwhile, liberals and progressives are constantly trying to refute the lies but to what purpose. There will just be other new lies the next days. So, call all your Republican friends and tell them about the death camps and not to fill out the Census forms — this is just hopeless.

As America Doomed has written many times, the Health Insurance Reform was only a partial attempt at reform. It was mostly an attempt to solve the most horrible policies of a for-profit health insurance industry which lost its mind. Seriously — Canceling people after they get sick? Not covering people who were ever sick? Babies are born with pre-existing conditions — wouldn’t that apply to everybody?
Yet, instead of really fixing health care, the current bill is only a big bandage on it — but the wound is still puffy and lots of puss is oozing out. There was not enough in the bill to actually control costs. There was nothing to control the salaries of doctors, the prices of prescription drugs, and the overall premiums. Instead, money is allocated to let people pay for outrageous premiums. Meanwhile, premiums will be going up to maintain the profits of an addicted out of control industry.
The basic problem with the bill is that people even have apply for it and pay premiums. Everybody should automatically be covered once they have a social security number. If you want a medical insurance card, use that. Also, there should be no premiums, no fees for not having insurance, and any money needed should come from taxes. Make no mistake, under the present bill premiums are going to rise, and a lot. Today, just as an example, a report indicated premiums for young people will rise quickly. Of course, making it impossible to young people to support themselves is a common theme: unpaid internships, low salaries, student loans, and crushing health care costs. Destroy the next generation will destroy America.
Democrats still have a great chance for seizing victory considerably farther by passing additional bills to make this first attempt stronger. Anybody who does not have health insurance should automatically be covered by Medicare. Medicare and MediCal should just be combined. This will become the single payer system and as people leave the greedy for-profit system, they will be covered automatically.
During the years from Reagan to W, deficits didn’t much matter to Republicans. Reagan nearly tripled the national debt in his term with his tax cuts that put the country on the road to destruction. Cheney declared “deficits didn’t matter” and he fancies himself as a fiscal conservative. The national debt continued to increase with one President after another — always more under Republicans than under Democrats. Now that the country is broke — yes, it is broke right now — Republicans want to talk about deficits. Hello! It is already too late — American has already spent the money for the next generation — it is already gone. Eventually, the debt will grow so fast that the country will simply define it away, issue a new currency, and just start over. About the only things that will survive are real assets: real estate, precious metals, things with intrinsic value, etc.
Republicans will try to convince ordinary Americans that it the country just stopped spending less than it brings it, everything would be ok. This is a gigantic lie. That would have worked long ago but not anymore — the national debt is too crushing. If Republicans implement such policies, America will literally be crushed under the weight — there will be people dead in the street. Lawlessness will break out in an unprecedented way. All the while, Republicans will be blaming Democrats when everybody should blame Reagan who decided that the rich were the only people that mattered.
