America Needs Civil Disobedience

On February 26, 2010, in doomed, by admin

The history of America is filled with acts on non-violent civil disobedience to draw attention to injustice.  America is crippled right now — not able to solve even serious problems like unemployment, health care, and homelessness.  Elected representatives are doing little to solve any problem — many elected representatives are actively roadblocks in front of any progress.  I have signed petitions, called my representatives, written letters, and many other things.  None of this makes any difference.

Remember the movie Network when people just opened their windows and said, “I’m mad as hell and not going to take it any more!”.   Maybe it is trashing up your city? Maybe it is picketing on public streets?  Marches on Washington DC by the unemployed? Maybe it is a million other things that I can’t even imagine!  There has to be something America can do to get the attention of the people who can fix some of the problems.  Nothing is going to happen in America until millions and millions of people make it clear just how upset they are and how broken America is.  Time is running out for America.

America is doomed.

Nice thought but you could never get Americans to turn away from sports, pornography, American Idol, or celebrity scandals. Bread and Circuses are here to stay. Anyway, picketing and marching requires that you don’t have cancer, diabetes, or heart disease. “Let them swill beer”!!!
