Headlines abound today — unemployment rate unexpectedly drops — this was even after more people lost their jobs in January.
This is only UNEXPECTEDLY if you are just ignorant and don’t understand the political calculations in the index.
The unemployment rate is designed to drop even if people don’t get jobs. Every unemployed person will automatically be considered employed if one of a number of things happens: he doesn’t apply for benefits, his benefits run out — they always in 6-18 months, he takes part time work, etc. etc. That is, he will no longer be considered unemployed for a variety of reason and EVERYBODY will be dropped in a relatively short amount of time WITHOUT getting a job. The only reason the unemployment rate is high now is because the rate of people losing their jobs is FASTER than the automatic drop from the list.
Think of it this way. If NOBODY got another job the rate would drop because eventually less and less people would be employed and losing jobs. It would be much better to measure employment — a little hard to be deceptive since employed people are much easier to count than the unemployed who fade into the background are are forgotten. Yes, FORGOTTEN. That is the entire point of computing unemployment the was America does.
Here’s the bottom line –
- A lower unemployment rate doesn’t mean less people are unemployed, more people are unemployed, or even that the jobs picture is getting better.
- The statistic is politically engineered to mislead people and it will be widely reported in the media.
- The government does not care about the real unemployment rate — the only changes to the index by both Republicans and Democrats have been to make it more deceptive.
- A much better statistic is to count the total number of people EMPLOYED in different categories, part time, full time, etc. Another good statistic is the total tax revenues paid by the employed.
When America started to deliberately mislead with fake statistics like this, it started on its road to destruction and it is very far down that road and heading for the cliff.
America is doomed.
We are off the cliff. I worked for the Fedderal Asshole Gubsamunts for 15 years as a food inspector. That is why I produce my own food (organic) and don’t believe anything that “da gubsamunts” says. Da gubsamunts promotes toxic food and freely hands out “‘Lectronic Benemafitzus Cards” to further dumb down and toxify the illiterate sheeple, who by the way, attended gubsamunts HI! When I worked for the Gubsamunts and my shit didn’t add up or make sense, my boss would tell me to just “pencil whip it”! “make it look good on paper” I was routinely told. We are now living in a moving paper fantasy. There is no “hope and change”, no turning back. Que sera, sera!!! Prepare for the worst. I already have. I only hope I can get out of this shithole before we approach the states of Haiti. I belive we can do it without even the aid of a natural disaster.
