Today, Senator Tom Harkin declares that he wants the filibuster to change — the Senate rule that requires 60 votes to end debate — the rule that prevents just about anything good ever happening in the Senate. Of course, Harkin wants it to end because you can never get 60 Senators to agree on anything significant or important. Now, Harkin graps a few headlines wanting to change the Senate rules — but that takes 67 Senators. Hmm. Ridiculous indeed. You can never get 60 votes but maybe 67 will agree you no longer need 60. Obviously, this is just another pretend change.

Whenever something happens, a bunch of politicans will speak out about how something is going to change. Blah. Blah. Blah. Constitutional Amendment. Blah. Blah. Blah. New legislation. Yet, nothing changes for the good. It only changes when the situation will rock the fabric of the country. Then, they will throw away all principals and judgment, e.g. Patrot Act, Wars, Financial Bailouts, etc.

Pretend change is the kind of elected representatives that America has. They are worthless. Meanwhile, you have the 5 old farts in the Supreme Court making decisions that will change things in ways unimaginable — Exxon For President — Corporations Are People, so says the old farts.

I thought that President Obama ran a good campaign — for the most part.  I thought it was S T U P I D to choose Biden for V.P. but I admired how he organized his campaign and used technology in new innovative ways.  He changed the way national elections will be conducted at least that is what I thought until today.

However, since entering office President Obama is way out of his league.  Clearly, he won the election and has every right to be in his position.  But the guy who campaigned cannot be recognized today.  Should I just conclude that Obama was a great campaigner and a terrible leader when clearly leadership is required to run a good campaign.

Once Obama entered office, he has gone out of his way to be Mr. Nice Guy.  He appeases the Republicans constantly and they accept any overture Obama offers but does not return anything in kind.  Republicans have a clear strategy — just oppose everything.  This seems like a third grade tactic but it clearly is working.  By just constantly opposing health care, they have taken a large majority opinion about the need for reform and transform it into a minority opinion of people who do not want the existing bill.  Victory for Republicans — again.

So, Obama has gotten little important done.  There is no banking reform and all of his talk about banking reform is just talk.   It will go nowhere.  Just as there will be no consumer protection.  The big bonuses will continue and the banks will continue to get bigger.  There will be other bailouts and still more bonuses.

Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a major victory for Republicans.  They can unleash powerful and rich corporations to fund their campaigns. This will be so easy because it is not hard to find wealthy industries that want to maintain the status quo.  Even excluding the obvious ones, like energy and health care, you have industries like food production that are happy to fork over lots of money to make sure to keep those pesky Democrats with their crazy notions that food should be healthy and not make you sick out of office.    Then you have foreign governments who want to buy more weapons or need additional aid.  They will find it is much easy to fill the coffers of the head of Congressional subcommittees.  Because as the saying goes in America — people don’t win elections, money does.

And tonight the Democrats are vowing to fight today’s Supreme Court ruling with a Constitutional Amendment. That is totally laughable and has no chance of getting passed in Congress much less getting ratified among 2/3rds of the states.  Those states include those idiot RED states that have one crazy religious wacko idiot after another voting for people who Palin thinks is smart.   No — there will be no big change in what the Supreme Court did.  Just as there has been no change in corporate person hood which gave corporations the rights of people.  There will be no changes and the FIVE Nazis on the Supreme Court who affirmed today’s decision knows that full well.    So, let thinking people object to today’s Supreme Court ruling because it won’t last long, whereas the ruling will last as long as America will.

Here is the immediate future.  Obama will keep giving speeches and accomplish little.  Obama will continue to talk about fairness and appease Republicans.  Republicans will continue to win with these strategy of opposing everything.  Nothing will get done.  Democrats will become increasingly more  upset and later ambivalent.  Republicans will win future elections and will help usher America down the toilet of their ideology, just as they have done for decades.

Eventually, there will be an uprising after things get so bad that ordinary Americans have no hope.  It will come on quickly when it starts but only time will tell how much people will endure first.

Yes … indeed … fuck the old farts with their 5-4 decision today to let corporations give as much money and influence in political campaigns as they want.  Seriously — could there be any better data point that America is not only going down the toilet but has already reached the sewer?  So, if you are China or Saudi Arabia and are not getting what you want out of Congress — just donate a few billion to the opposition candidate.

Why do we even have elections any more?

If you think the health insurance companies were able to influence Congress — you haven’t seen anything yet.

The consequences of this ridiculous decision will be felt forever.  The U.S. has never recovered from when it declared that corporations had the same right as human beings.

Hurrah — the Republicans won the special election Senate race in Massachusetts.  Maybe somebody other than America Doomed is pissed off at the performance and behavior of the nearly super-majority Democrats.   The Democrats were given a gigantic electoral advantage in the Congress and they are pissing it away.   President Obama is just as clueless as Nancy and Harry.  Maybe they can all go have a beer and figure out what the hell to do.

First, Obama — you should announce that the health care bill is a piece of shit and you won’t sign it — ever.  Tell the Congress you want Medicare for everybody — everybody in, nobody out — or go fuck yourself with another giveaway for the American welfare system to the health insurance companies.

Second, Obama — get the hell out of these stupid ridiculous wars.  Close Gitmo.  Start acting like the person you claimed to be in the election.  Forget the speeches — start showing some guts.

Third, Obama — start being a real leader with vision.  Climate change is going to put much of the U.S. coast under water.  History will look back at this time and  even times before and say “What the hell were these people thinking?” — they had a chance to do something to avert catastrophe but they did nothing except give a few dumb-ass speeches and people getting along — blah, blah, blah.

Fourth, Obama — get on the economy and start realizing that the jobs are not coming back. That the bankers are greedy bastards.  Roll back the Bush tax cuts, the Reagan tax cuts, and the Kennedy tax cuts and create a New New New Deal and put America back to work.  In fact, it is going to get much worse — America is in the first inning and by the sixth inning people will be jumping off buildings and eating their young..  And now that the Democrats have shot themselves in the foot, there will probably be even more Republicans elected.  In fact, Democrats would be better off it they lost more elections so they start to realize that they are fucking up a chance of a lifetime.

The American Banking system and entire financial structure is heading off a cliff.  America Doomed has pointed it out for a very long time.  It is sad to watch elected representatives act like things are just like they always have been.  It doesn’t matter what you are talking about.  Unemployment is high but jobs are coming back — they will say.  This is just naive thinking  at least — more likely blatant lies — in any case — absolute nonsense and wrong.

Likewise, the banking system and the financial markets are totally screwed up.  Greed and corruption abound.  Even if Congress — for a moment — speaks of reform,  the bank will dispatch their lobbyist whores will will stop any real reform from happening.  Try to impose greater reserves and the banks will act like you are killing their first born children.  Actually, these bankers are killing lots of other people’s children.  They are the greediest bastards on Earth — fuck them all.

Money is now at 0% interest, thereby confiscating ordinary Americans hard earned money.  But no matter — it will all be worthless soon enough.  And those greedy bankers will be in begging for handouts when the new currency is issued.  Meanwhile, homeless and hungry will be everywhere because there will still be politicians who will claim that America can come back — blah, blah — we always have.  Of course, this is true right up until the one time when the system doesn’t recover and you have something like the disintegration of the USSR.  Start thinking about the complete collapse of the American Financial System — the sooner the better.

As Massachusetts’ Senate race is making Democrats worry — Republicans are convincing a pretty liberal state that they have the answers.  Funny — it was the Republicans clowns that set the destruction of America up in earnest since the head-clown Ronald Fucking Reagan.   Sure, there have been plenty of other clowns come and go.  Meanwhile, the Democratic A-team are proving to be just as inept as the long list of Republican assholes.

Wall Street has been a Ponzi scheme for a long time and continues to be.  The DOW Jones make-believe index goes up based on nothing more than manipulation and  speculation.  When things get out of whack the government steps in and bails them out.  The government doesn’t have any real money so they just go to their computers and punch in a bunch of numbers.  Viola!  A few new $TRILLIONS and the Federal Reserve will fight everybody to not reveal where the money went.  This is voodoo and corruption all in a nice little package, surrounding with nonsense Congressional Hearings –  yet, the system will come apart and everybody will be shocked — perhaps, not as shocked as a few years ago but shocked nonetheless.  Maybe Limbaugh and Palin — supreme idiots both — will blame it on the black President.

Dear America — keep watching Fox News and blame those liberals for all the woes.  It won’t matter in the end because you are going to be crushed just like the poor people you mock — you know the ones the rich call lazy.  Happily, the poor have considerably shorter distances to fall that the rich fucks who watch Hannity and Beck.
