What better example of America Doomed could there be than today’s article from the Washington Post. Even though the federal government poured in $TRILLIONS to banks and financial institutions, these institutions are now bigger and even more vulnerable. Plus, there continues to be thousands of smaller banks which are on the verge of collapse. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve, Treasury, and FDIC are even less equipped to handle the collapse of these financial institutions.
There is no saving America. It is going to collapse — and as they say — great will be the fall. Yet, still people think the capitalism is a system endowed by god as the best way to run the economic affairs of mankind. Just as their belief in fake god, they are equally nuts believing in capitalism which is predominately based on greed — privileging the rich at the expense of everybody else.
Capitalism use to be better when it could produce plenty of jobs — certainly jobs for everybody who needed one. No more — there are just not enough jobs and many jobs can be eliminated or outsourced largely as a result of technology and greed based laws that promote outsourcing. Just as the experts are talking about a job-less recovery — as if there could be a recovery without jobs for ordinary America. What they are talking about is the silly movement on worthless paper as stocks, commodities, financial assets, and derivatives are manipulated. Economics is not just about markets and systems of commerce — it is about ordinary people functioning in the society and supporting themselves — it is about providing food, clothing, housing, education, health care, and transportation to ordinary people.
Obama just doesn’t get what is happening as he wanders off to New York to give another one of his talks to people that are so much into greed, they would rather look at stock charts than care for their families — much less the millions of other countrymen who go without every day. People who cannot get health care or housing or food or education … these are the real Americans who will one day get tired of living in poverty or near poverty and begin to take back the country.
Until then, there will be more people like Obama — saying much — and delivering very little. By any measure, you have to view Obama’s presidency to date as a complete disaster. Sure, lots of great speeches and ideas but in practice very little accomplished — much better than Bush, of course, but Obama still has not affected the lives of ordinary Americans to the extent that the election suggested. He won’t either. He has sold out to the corporate interests — he has drank the kool aid — and he is an embarrassment to his ideals.
America is doomed.
I’ll hit on a few of your major points. Capitalism is alive and well, in the third world in the destinations where we outsourced the jobs. Maybe there are just too many people in the world. Maybe the earth and man can’t develop resources fast enough to pay (and create jobs) for both the highly skilled and the unskilled. Maybe we are now carrying a full load. Maybe we don’t need any more immigrants, especially illegal parasites. Maybe we are limited out. We are not Brazil. Bet there are lots of jobs in Brazil. It is an untamed, undeveloped land like we were 100 years ago. They need farmers, framers, and fuckers!!!! We’ve had all we need!!! Providing food, housing, disease management for profit, clothing, and transportation for the unwashed masses is a great idea, but who is going to pay for it in a country that by any measure meets all of the criteria for being bankrupt?????? Did you see the price of gold today? Dollar is shedding shit!!! Everybody knows it!! The whole world knows it!!! Ik’m tired of living in and at near poverty, but I made the decision 16 years ago to drop out. My plight is self inflicted. But to me it’s not even a plight. I savor my independance, my ability to feed myself, my self reliance, my freedom (like my trip to the beach today). And I don’t make shit. I barely make ends meet but I’m happy and my life is fairly good, because I AM GD INDEPENDANT!!!! I have a clothes dryer that I gave to my girlfriend. She was shocked. “Akskd” me what I was going to do. I showed her the new clothesline that I had just erected!!!! I met somebody at the gas station yesterday who had run out of gas on her way home and had no money. Store wouldn’t help her. I had just won $8 big dollars on a scratch off. I put it in her tank. But she was driving an oversized SUV, not a corolla!!She said that the “Lord” had blessed her today. Never said that “I” had blessed her. I don’t give a rat’s ass. If you are a debtor, then you are a slave to the lender. America has been living beyond it’s means since LBJ!!! Haven’t balanced a budget in nearly 50 years. Just keep borrowing. Well, my friend, judgement day is here!!! And you are so right. the Obaminator can’t help you or anyone else. Get your house in order. Tell others to do the same and stop all of this foolish shit about some phantom “gubsamunts” entity swooping in to save us. Look at Detroilet. They have had every government handout for 50 years. It looks worse than Bolivia!!!There is no money. The more they print the less what we have is worth. It hurts, not helps!!! Obama has truely sold out to the corporate interests, especially Big Pharma and Big Insurance. He has touched the lives of ordinary citezens, though, but in a negative way. He is a joke. Maybe he’ll drown on kool aid. He’s an embarassment to everyone who supported him. I do not belive that we will make it to the next election without martial law. Prepare yourself.
