There use to be honorable conservatives — people who believed in conservative principals but also valued fellow mankind. These people have disappeared. Most of the right does not even believe in conservative principles — look at what they allowed and protected in the Bush W years — gigantic deficits with windfall tax cuts to the rich — hardly a conservative principal. They have been replaced with hateful people like Palin, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. Even people of religious faith are equally hateful: Huckabee, Dobson, etc. — protect the fetus, hate the child; oppose to gay marriage, etc.
When conservatives stand up and say the America cannot afford universal health insurance — what are they really saying? They are saying LET PEOPLE WITHOUT MONEY DIE. Really, if a person believes that money is more important than humanity, they are lost in a sea of greed. Do they really think there is some benevolent god who would agree with this position? If so, they are delusional.
America defines its economics. It is not written on some stone tablet. If we want to make sure everybody has minimums, we can do that. This would include minimums in housing, food, jobs, transportation, and health care. We could define basic minimums in anything — even television, video games or cell phones. But conservatives do not agree in basic minimums, unless the minimum is zero and you die. In fact, conservatives will fight for lower wages, less benefits, and no health care to assure that people will die. There are no more honorable conservatives.
Conservatives hate maximums — there is never enough greed for the conservative of today. If people have to die so that a conservative can have more, lots more, then so be it. Many of them will also proclaim that it is god’s will or some equally inane bullshit. Yet, when it comes right down to it — America is just about people. It should be able people helping other people and not about how a few people can collect all the marbles. Unfortunately, this idea of greed, no maximums, and zero being acceptable is destroying America.
America is doomed.
eek well don’t you know that when you are talking about people having at least minimums you are talking the dreaded ‘Socialism’ word. Socialism is evil you know…what could be more evil than a society that takes money out of the hands of the poor 400 or so billionaires to help provide for the 25 million people living in extreme poverty. What could be more unchrisitian and immoral than to allow the poor the ‘right to life’ via “socialized’ medicine. After all was it not Christ who said:

Not long ago, I bought a book that discussed the history of a certain nation. In this book, the author discussed relevant examples of how ‘socialism’ was the catchphrase to demonize those who sought to change the path of the nation. In time those same ‘socialists’ ended up in prisons or dead. Was it America? no The nation was Germany and the years involved 1933-1939.
I have no problems with minimums. Nobody should be allowed to fall below a certain level and still be left “free” in society. Most people are able and willing to help themselves. Many people were born to social environments that were not at all conducive to becoming a greedy, sleazy corporate CEO or an overpaid Allopathic Quack Doctor, true symbols of success in America. But many will need to get their minimum handouts in institutions. They are mentally ill, drugged up, drunk, broken, or otherwise incapacitated. There is no “leave it to Beaver” neighborhood where they can reside. Utopia doesn’t exist. I live near Savannah, Ga. I don’t go there often because I hate any kind of congestion. I live in the woods, on the coast. Why go to a city? Even one as beautiful as Savannah? But I had to go and buy steel the other day for a welding job I was doing. Went past an occupied public housing project (gubsamunts housing). Pure Ghetto, like something out of Detroilet or Filthadelphia. Tank o’Sepsis!!! I rolled up my window and locked the car doors (I don’t use AC, very unhealthy). About a mile farther down the road I passed another “unoccupied” gubsamunts housing project. Even more graffiti, broken windows, broken playground equipment, and generalized shit than the occupied one, but the two were close in terms of appearance. I later learned at the steel plant that the unoccupied one had been abandoned because it was “unmanageable”, a den of crime, crack, sloth, hopelessness, whoring, “ignunce”, etc…. People have to have “skin in the game” as the Obamanator would say. They need to build equity. It has to be their loss if they shit everything up. When they spray their favorite color of graffiti paint, they need to be screwing up their own property values. Sweat equity projects are fine with me. If a person is very poor they need to attend job training or do community service to receive their handup. It can’t be a total handout. Even small amounts deducted from welfare checks and used for housing maintenance puts them in the game. No freebies. Even if we get healthcare reform (which is doubtful) the system still needs a small copayment per doctor visit to help fund the program and keep the “hangnail” cry babies and hypochondiacs out of the Quack office everyday. As for maximums, don’t have any. Just keep increasing the tax rate on them and taking more of the absurd “bonusus” and illgotten profits. They won’t quit producing. Their egos drive them. Then they can bitch about how much they could make but the gubsamunts keeps stealing it from them. Repukicans will continue to try and collect all of the marbles just for bragging rights, even if they have to give them back or, god forbid, share some of them with the down and outies. No Zero, No Max. But self reliance and an equity stake.
