America Doomed has been saying for a long while that America IS in a Depression. While everybody else doesn’t want to use the word D E P R E S S I O N — that is, in fact, the correct word. What is happening in America is transformational. It isn’t going to be “fixed” with anything less than throwing out the entire capitalistic system and replacing it will socialism (not communism) — think Karl Marx and not Stalin or Lenin.
Today Arlen Specter, PA Republican Senator, said that the nation is on the brink of a depression. On the brink? More interesting, he said:
Our economic problems are enormously serious — more serious than is publicly disclosed.
That’s right — MORE SERIOUS. That’s right — THAN PUBLICLY DISCLOSED.
Of course the economic problems are more serious than the public knows. It doesn’t take much connecting the dots to understand the the economy is in very bad situation. Today, Warren Buffet explained that the American economy has “fallen off a cliff” and that Americans are modifying their behavior like he has never seen. This is no real surprise to ordinary Americans who have been unemployed, can’t find new jobs, have no health care, can’t pay their bills, and had their home foreclosed.
The crime rate is rising because people are getting desperate. In fact, if I was on a jury, I would never convict anybody who committed a crime because he was trying to survive. Frankly, this is the natural consequences of a country that discards people and lets them “pull themselves up by their own bootstraps” as the Republicans love to say. Well, in my estimation, pulling yourself up in such a way puts lots of things on the table.
However, listen to most of the talking heads on CNBC, like Crazy Larry Kudlow, and they are so optimistic. Everyday they are talking about a stock market bottom. Everyday Kudlow talks about his little “acorns” of good news ahead. Everyday Kudlow explains that he is an optimist and believes in America. He believes in the ideology of Ronald Reagan and couldn’t care less about all the suffering from ordinary Americans. This makes Kudlow a sociopath.
As I have said many times before, Socialism is the only solution. America needs to guarantee every person a living wage income. Make laws to require all full time workers be paid a living wage. Restrict the number of hours that an person can be required to work to less than 40 hours a week in order to force companies into hiring more employees. Most ‘for profit’ companies need to be converted into ‘non profit’ companies. There needs to be restriction on how much money people can make to something like 5 times what the lowest paid person makes. The longer America avoids embracing such a system the worse the problems will get.
America is doomed.

I agree with you on the economic crisis – it is a lot worse than the government is letting on. I would like to hear your present ideas on the U.S. current situation after the stimulus package for “responsible” homeowners was released.
