Sacrifice the Poor and Unemployed

On February 11, 2009, in doomed, by admin

The House-Senate Compromise to the Stimulus Bill is out and it sends a clear message.  The U.S. Congress doesn’t care about the poor or the unemployed.  It doesn’t care that people will lose their health insurance.  It cares about the rich, again.

The House-Senate compromise, however, cuts funds for extended health care coverage for the unemployed; cuts $30 billion in aid to state governments to prevent reductions in social services to the poor and out-of-work; and also cuts a special “Making Work Pay” tax holiday from $500 to $400 for an individual, and from $1,000 to $800 for a couple, for low-to-middle-income workers still hanging on to their jobs

Bring on the Tent Cities.  Bring on the starving people.  Continue the policies where the poor and the unemployed are dismissed as the rich and near rich are rewarded.  Revolutions start at the bottom and it is just a matter of time before the ever-increasing number of poor revolt.

America is doomed.

I am curious as to where these rich people will be able to sell their stuff from overseas, since there won’t be a lot of people here in the U.S. who will be able to buy it. The rich can’t possibly buy all or most of what is sold here in the U.S. I also can’t see the automobile Industry getting better since we can’t afford to buy, or go into debt to purchase a new car. The new hybrids are more expensive than the regular cars. Who is going to buy those? The lawmakers seem to think that the bulk of our economy rests on the housing market. I beg to differ. I once heard a teacher tell our class that a country’s economy rests on its agriculture and industrial base. If they go, so goes the country. We need to quit trying to be the police of the world and get out of this globalization concept. The energy situation should be a clue to the rich and corporations that globalization is unsustainable. Where are they going to get the fuel to keep flying those airplanes which make globalization possible? We really need to get people into the government who are severely realistic. The public, especially the rich and well to do need a reality check. I would love to see an emphasis made on building the railroads. That is one area that would provide sustainable jobs for a lot of people. I could go on about our situation but it would only fall on deaf ears. The only thing that will make people wake up is when reality bites them in the ass.
