Krugman’s economic hell op-ed piece today is starting to explain just how bad next year will be.  However, there is still too much optimism in his analysis.  Krugman says he is optimistic for 2010.  Here’s the problem.

Ordinary people are going to be destroyed in 2009.  There will be no recovery  for these people in 2010.  There might be a minor recovery for some businesses.  The unemployment rate will drop because it is a fraud number and it never represents the true state of employment — it is tied to unemployment benefits and once they end the person is considered employed — stupid, eh? — it’s just a political number.

The economy is not going to bottom until the stupid Republicans capitulate.  For example, Larry Kudlow and Charlie Leisman need to be fired from CNBC because of their constant right wing Pollyanna bullshit.  Kudlow and Leisman are hateful, supply-side, bastards who are sitting on their overpriced jobs declaring elitist bullshit.  It was precisely the policies that Kudlow and Leisman believe that caused the economic collapse. Once these assholes are fired, acknowledging the bankrupt ideas, there just might be an economic bottom.

Stimulus programs are great but there needs to be basic living wage money given to  all Americans who need them.  There needs to be housing and food allowances.  Plus, universal health care because everybody (excluding irrational assholes) sane knows that you can’t count on private companies for health care.  Privatizing social security might just be the most stupid thing that has ever been proposed and yet virtually all Republicans think this is a good idea.

America is doomed.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, says that Britain’s response to the economic crisis is like what happened in Nazi Germany:

In his article he [Archbishop] warns of the dangers of “unconditional loyalty to a system” that turned into a “nightmare” in Germany under Hitler, in which only certain groups and ideas were valued, while others were deemed dispensable and suffering was ignored.

The “unconditional loyalty” Dr. Williams refers to is the government’s plan to bailout out the financial system while ignoring the plight of the weakest in society:

But unemployment is predicted to top 2 million by the New Year as high street names such as Woolworths and MFI go under. Thousands have fallen into negative equity as the property market has fallen by 15 per cent. Millions of prudent savers are also suffering as interest rates have been cut to 2 per cent.

Does this sound familiar?  This is exactly what is happening in the U.S.  Spending tons of money on the financial institutions and ignoring the horrible plight of ordinary Americans.

Dr. Williams goes on to conclude (bold is mine):

But after the collapse of banks around the world in September, Dr Williams called for governments to increase regulation of the financial sector and claimed Karl Marx had been right in his analysis of the dangers of capitalism.

That’s right.  CAPITALISM doesn’t work.  It fucks over most of the people and is now fucking over the world as well.

America is doomed.

It is hard and shocking to hear people say “I Love America” or “America is the best country on earth” or “America is the land of opportunity”.  People that make these kinds of statements now days are just plain stupid, out of touch, mentally ill, and/or part of the problem.  These statements use to be true, but no more.  America is a fucked up place — it is a “third” world country.

Go visit any large metropolitan hospital’s ER and see big waiting rooms, patients in the hall, and the filth everywhere.  Go to unemployment offices.  Go to downtown in any major city.  See the homelessness.  Drug abuse.  Racism.  Hostility.  Make no mistake, America is a fucked up disgusting place.  There is no empathy.  Instead, there is corruption, greed, evilness, war, torture, low wages, joblessness, compromised justice, ever growing gap between rich and poor, and crazies who think this is a great place.

It is amusing to hear people all worried about terrorism — terrorists might do this or that.  The truth is that a substantial terrorist attack might actually help America get back on the right track.  It would be like those very few days after 911 when there was a moment of unity.   Everybody rallied around.   It is certainly clear that there is no getting back on the right track the way things are going right now.  Everything is just getting worse and will continue to get much worse.

Consider this.  There are not enough jobs for everybody who needs one.  Fine.  Create a few million infrastructure jobs — good idea.  Yet, this is not going to employ everybody who needs a job.  Technology is displacing people at a much faster rate than every before.   Go into an auto plant and see how few people are actually needed — btw, robots aren’t people.  Go to a supermarket and check yourself out.  Use the ATM and remember when you use to have  to interact with a employed person.  Call customer service for any company and talk to a computer or, if you insist, a person who works in another country.  Go to Walmart and buy something virtually guaranteed to have been made in China.

Truth is.  I would happily leave America.  I just can’t figure out how.  If anybody knows how to immigrate to a country that cares about people, let me know.  America has no good future — just lots of pain.

Madoff’s scandal continues to grow with people and organizations learning that they too were invested with Madoff.  Many invested with others who were charging sizable fees, like 1.5% of assets per year — not profits, to invest money.  In turn, these “advisers” were turning over the money to Madoff who simply absconded it.  It is still not clear whether the $50 BILLION Madoff stole is really the total amount. When will Americans get angry and upset?

A new AP study shows that banks passed out $1.6 BILLION in taxpayer bailout money to executives of failed banks.  As layoffs continue at ALL of these banks, the executives are rewarded!  Have you heard capitalists, particularly Republicans, argue that America rewards people for success.  This is so much bullshit.  America rewards people for corruption. When will Americans get angry and upset?

The SEC shirked their responsibilities ignoring dozens, if not hundreds, of complaints and allegations of corruption about Madoff over the years.  Financial analysts tried to duplicate Madoff’s results but concluded it was just impossible.  Many people knew years in advance that there was something horribly wrong.  Meanwhile, the SEC ignored their responsibilities as they ran outside businesses and watched porn instead of overseeing the corruption on Wall Street.  When will Americans get angry and upset?

When Obama speaks of stimulus spending on infrastructure, this money will end up going to private concerns who will pay workers shit and abscond with much of the money, paying executives obscene salaries and bonuses.  Nobody will talk about that. It will be no different than the stealing done by defense contractors in Iraq.  America is the land of stealing, corruption, and unethical behavior of all types.  When will Americans get angry and upset?

Virtually every public company awards stock options to employees and executives which is nothing more than stealing from the company.  This ownership in the company is not earned — it is not based on profits of the company — it is stealing from the stockholders.  It is just plain theft perpetrated by boards of directors that are inbred across companies with quid pro quo.  Also, try figuring out how much that even a single large company is rewarding their executives — it will blow your mind.  Meanwhile, CEOs say they will work for $1 a year — this is bullshit because they never give up their options which is where the real money is.  When will Americans get angry and upset?

I frequently speak of the corruption in America and only cover the tip of the iceberg.  At the local, state, and national level there is so much corruption.  Corruption beyond the wildest dreams of the most honest investigative journalist.  One politician after another, one business person after another, and everybody who thinks they can get “away” with it seems to be dong exactly that.  Few are ever caught.  Fewer still ever go to jail.  Those that go to jail go for a very short time.  Yet, the results of this massive corruption are felt in the economy and among ordinary Americans.  Americans are starving and dying because of corruption.    When will Americans get angry and upset?

America is doomed.

The U.S. financial system is melting down.  Millions of people are losing their jobs and it looks like things will get even worse.   Billions to the auto industry who will likely go belly up anyway.  Billions to banks that are being used for executive compensation and acquisitions.   Banks tightening credit to make things worse.  No loans to the very people who are paying for all the bailouts.  One company after another announcing new layoffs.  Millions are losing their homes as homelessness increases.  The Treasury and the Federal Reserve are printing money so fast that hyper inflation is guaranteed in the future.

Yet …

The country is talking about gay marriage.  Ridiculous.  Let the gays marry — shit, let any adult marry any other adult who will agree to marry them.  Who cares?

Let ‘s thank the Republicans you have screwed up the country for forty years as they get the country to focus on yet another issue that is nothing more than a distraction.  Everybody knows that it is just a matter of time and there will be gay marriage.  Just like blacks can now marry and interracial (a stupid word) couples can now marry — both of which the religious wackos fought over.  Don’t worry — after gay marriage is resolved, there will be some other stupid distraction as ordinary people get crushed.
